Bon Ami

(Bonifatius/Fabriano/Donnerhall)

Hanoverian

Colt born 29 January, 2011 in Germany

Color: Bay with white star (like dam sire Fabriano), and three white socks.

Height: Currently 17.1 hands.

Bon Ami is a tall 17.1 hand, modern, 4-year old gelding with FEI potential and promise. He has three good dressage gaits, with his canter being his best gait.  His hind legs are active and strong.  He is a naturally forward moving horse and moves off the leg very well.  Because of his age and size Bon Ami is still very much in development but it is possible to see his potential and imagine what he will be like in another year.

Bon Ami has been in full training for about one year with Gitte Hinrichs, a professional German dressage trainer.  He is currently 1st  level, schooling 2nd. Given his level of maturity, he needs an experienced rider that can continue to help him develop his confidence.

Bon Ami has excellent ground manners and has never been sick, hurt, or lame.

Bon Ami's dam, imported St. Pr Farina (Fabriano/Donnerhall/Lauries Crusador xx), is a mare show winner (Beedenbostel), received almost exclusively 8s, has great talent for both dressage and jumping – and – comes from the very successful Sefaza damline which has earned over Euro 170,000 in prize money. This line has produced many licensed stallions including Benetton Dream, Danone I and II, Der Designer (sold for 1.1 million Euro) and Winterprinz. In 2014, Farina's five year old colt won several dressage competitions in Germany with his amateur rider (beating professionals!). Farina’s filly received her St.Pr.A. title at age three in 2013, won her German riding horse test at age four in 2014, and was subsequently imported to Canada.

Bon Ami's sire, Bonifatius (Belissimo/Lauries Crusador xx,) won the 2009 stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, Germany with a total index of 133.43 points (136.87 for dressage and 111.05 for jumping). Bonifatius was not only convincing in terms of his movements and jumping abilities but also his cross-country performance.  Bonifatius offspring have been popular at German auctions.  For example, at the 2014 Brightwells Auction in the UK, a 4 year old gelding by Bonifatius was sold for the highest price (£47,000).

Video's of Bon Ami are available further below.

Bonifatius

Bonifatius is an extremely noble type, a true alternative for dressage horse breeders. He has everything that lets breeders' hearts beat faster: a fantastic presence and exceptional basic gaits, coming from his fabulous interior. The popularity of his pedigree is unrivalled at present. There are Lauries Crusador xx and Lemon Tree on dam's side and in the fifth generation the legendary Waidmannsdank xx – all fantastic trademark stallions – what else could one ask for. With the refining influence over his sire Belissimo, the stallion represents the old Hanoverian line of Bolero. Video of Bonifatius.

Belissimo M

An exceptional sire of rideability, Belissimo M currently has 8 stallion performance test winners and 3 reserve performance test winners from the first three crops of foals. This in itself could be a world record! Additionally to this he currently has two offspring that have won at the Westphalian Championships and four Bundeschampions. Belissimo M.

Fabriano

Dr. Wilkins, managing director of the German Verband, calls Fabriano "one of the best performance horse producers of Hannover's breeding program today." (The Hanoverian - December 1999). Fabriano was winner of the 1990 Stallion Performance Test, placing first in jumping and fourth in dressage, Fabriano demonstrated his versatility which was confirmed in his offspring. Fabriano has the charm and good looks of his Absatz heritage, a particularly good wither and croup. His movements are rhythmical and flowing with excellent engagement of the hind quarters, a very free shoulder and an uncomplicated mind. Fabriano's daughters showed excellent scores in all categories of the Hanoverian Mare Inspections and Mare Performance Tests. His performance offspring have also performed well in both dressage and jumping, up to grand prix level in both, giving Fabriano excellent breeding scores in all areas. Video of Fabriano.

Indeed there are those, like the trainer Jo Hinnemann, who believe that it is the second and third generations of Donnerhalls that will produce the goods: Video of Donnerhall.
