We had a wonderful surprise today as we were contacted by the owner of our St. Pr. Farina's first 2009 colt by Benetton Dream (pictured). The owner also shared that "Benito passed his first 2 riding tournaments in youngster test last weekend. In the first show he ranked (with a ribbon) on the sixth place, second time he won the examination on A-leval. He is really nice to ride and he had have really good basic paces and he have a fantastic rideability." Finally, we learned that the owner also is the one that presented Farina at the mare show in Beedenbostel (which Farina won). Neat!

04 September 2012

I finally got time to update some of the photos from the trip to Germany. Our tour guide was Hanke. We went to Hengst Pape, Jen's Meyers, Bockmann's, Gerd Sosath's, Paul Schockemohle's, and Klosterhof Medingen.

We also got to spend some time with Mr and Mrs. Lindena, the breeders of Prime Time.

At Paul Shockemohle's, we were not allowed to take pictures of the stallions. We did take the time to photograph another famous site. Alwin Shockemohle (Paul's brother) built a mile long track so that his trotters could work year round.

Please help get the word out … we're excited to have the Oldenburg GOV inspection in MI this year. It will be July 11 at Chestershire Farm in Manchester (http://www.chestershirefarms.com/)

To the best of our knowledge the inspection has traditionally been held in OH … it would be great if we could continue to have one in MI. So please bring your mares, foals or come to watch!

November 2011

Dan attended the Hanoverian Society Breed Orientation Seminar in Framingham Massachusetts. This seminar gives the attendees one week of personal instructor from Dr. Christmann of the Hannoverian Verband. Judy Hedreen of the American Hanoverian Society (AHS) also presented. This class covered all aspects of breeding from conformation to bloodlines. The course included field trips to local breeders such as Majestic Gaits, Page Brook Farms, as well as Hof Mendenhall. There was also a mock Mare Performance test so we could gain first hand knowledge of what the judges are looking for during different parts of the test. The class finished with a stallion presentation of Schroeder (Sandro Hit x Escudo I), Donnersohn (Donnerhall x Archipel), and Don Principe (Donnerhall x Prince Thatch xx).

The attendees from Western Canada handled the Entertainment portion of the trip, with wine and Schnapps for the bus rides. It was great fun.

Michaela got to attend the breeding seminar in Germany so she stayed home this time.

08 Sept 2008

We thought we would share some photos from the 2008 Olympics. The main part of the Olympics was in Beijing. The equestrian part of the 2008 Olympics was in Hong Kong. The eventing portion was at Beas River while the dressage and show jumping was at Sha Tin. The facilities and running of the show were all first class.

All of the photos were taken by Dan.

You will be able to tell which horse was my favorite (Ravel).

Also take a close look at the rider on Whisper. Hirosh Hoketsu is 75 years old!

Enjoy!
